the importance of a refresh
Who here has experienced burnout?
Are we all raising our hands?! If you’re not, give me your tricks. PLEASE.
I recently took my first full week vacation since beginning full time work 5 years ago. I know, it sounds crazy, but it’s true. I managed to only take days off here and there for the past five years. Any trips were typically Thursday night after work until so late on Sunday night that it was was basically Monday morning. I always had the time of my life, but it always felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation.

What. A. Game changer. I finally felt relief. I honestly did not think about my job once. I didn’t think about whether or not the house was clean. I wasn’t worried if the laundry was done. I detached and it was incredible. Although, I now truly understand post vacation Sunday Scaries.
How does this relate to design and all of the things I do and the goals I am trying to chase? Well….let me tell you. When I finally was able to shut my brain off from the constant routine of life, I was absolutely bursting with ideas. Throughout the week, I would text myself or doodle down quick sketches so I wouldn’t forget these ideas.
This vacation is honestly the reason that I am here on this page right now. I finally convinced myself to just do the damn thing. Who cares if it goes nowhere. This is something I was been dreaming about doing since my dream of design became more clear to me. Now that’s a story for another time.
So, if you’re here, thank you. If you’re not, I hope to see you soon. Please enjoy this mess of a shop, portfolio, blog, way to reach me & who knows what else. And for now, I am going to put this down as one of my “extraordinary” things that I’ve done :-)
